Welcome to Junior Jitsu
All our classes are taught by experienced black belt instructors, dedicated to the needs of the individual. We hold regular inter-club kyu gradings as well as twice yearly Junior Black Belt and Gold Tab gradings (held in International Headquarters, Liverpool). We have a constant influx of students from beginner to Black Belt and through to Gold Tab level.
How does it work?
We have a complete technical system from beginner to Black Belt - and it certainly doesn't stop there! We also work to a comprehensive Junior Black Belt Gold Tab system in order to motivate our students to move forward and achieve their goals.
Junior Leadership
We also provide the opportunity for students (Brown & White belt upwards) to gain Junior Leadership awards - these are recognised qualifications in coaching.
Why a Junior Leadership Award?
Q. What does the qualification mean?
A. It means that your child can begin to learn the essential leadership skills that will build confidence and aptitude which will be invaluable in adult life.
Q. OK! But what about future employment opportunities?
A. Well, the Junior Leadership scheme will introduce your child to the skills required to enable them to become a professional martial arts coach.
Q. How is this done?
A. Once they have completed all three courses, the path is now clear for their natural progression through our senior coaching awards to the ultimate qualification A Level 2 City & Guilds NVQ in coaching.
Q. Why is this such an important qualification?
A. Gaining an NVQ means that the coach has met the national standards set by the Sport and Recreation Industry. The national standards are a benchmark of good practice for coaches in all sports and activities.
Q. OK, but how old and what grade must my child be to participate?
A. For the Assistant Junior Leader Course the required grade is Brown & White Belt and the minimum age is 9 years. For the Junior Leaders Course, they can still be Brown & White Belts but must be 10 years of age.
Junior Instructors must be 14 years of age and hold the grade of Black Belt.
Q. How often are these courses held and how much will it cost?
A. Junior Leadership Courses are held twice a year and cost £25 (Assistant Junior Leader), £35 (Junior Leader) and £40 (Junior Instructor). The course fee includes: Certification, Badge and a light lunch.
Q. Which course should my child take?
A. The courses must be taken sequentially, one course must be passed before progression to the next.
